Aventura's Comp AI Raises $34 Million Series A to Make Compliance Continuously Agentic

AVENTURA — Compliance used to mean binders, quarterly audits and a scramble before the next certification. A Miami-area startup just raised another large check to turn that work into continuous, agentic software.
Comp AI announced a $34 million Series A on Sept. 17, 2026, led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. The company, founded in January 2025, is headquartered at 2999 NE 191st Street, Suite 500, in Aventura, with a New York office at 3 East 28th Street. Co-founders are Lewis Carhart (CEO), Claudio Fuentes (COO) and Mariano Fuentes (CTO).
According to TechCrunch, Comp AI has posted 15x year-over-year ARR growth, 10x year-over-year company growth and more than 1,000 customers. Total funding to date stands at $37.5 million. (PitchBook’s Q3 South Florida tally has listed the round near $35 million; the company figure is $34 million.)
From Faster Compliance to Continuous Security
Comp AI sells an AI-native platform for compliance and security. Its agents handle onboarding, policy and risk generation, evidence gathering, control monitoring and vendor assessments, with a pitch that companies can reach compliance in days rather than quarters. The next product push is continuous cybersecurity: real-time monitoring, control validation, and security testing including penetration testing.
Customers span healthcare, financial services, higher education, professional services and software. Named examples include Corgi, Dub, OpenCode, Inference and Primer, according to company materials and local coverage.
Carhart framed the Series A as a shift from automation that tracks work to software that does the work. “The first generation of compliance software proved this process could be automated. Agentic AI lets us go much further,” he said in the company announcement. “Security software shouldn’t just track the work. It should understand the business, perform the work, and act as risk changes. We started by making compliance dramatically faster and less resource-intensive. Now we’re building toward a platform to proactively identify, validate, and act on risk in real time.”
Why Agentic AI Changes the Constraint
Claudio Fuentes argued that traditional compliance was always an imperfect stand-in for security because the labor could only be done manually and periodically. “Historically, compliance has been an approximation of security because so much of the work could only be performed manually and periodically,” he said. “Agentic AI changes that constraint. Work that once required teams of people can increasingly happen continuously in software. At the same time, AI is making the threat landscape faster and more dynamic. We believe the next generation of security companies will be built around that reality from day one.”
That thesis is what attracted the lead investors. Roo Capital is a Coconut Grove / Miami-area firm; Varun Sridhar, a principal at Roo, tied the bet to continuous rather than annual compliance. “AI is changing the security and compliance landscape quickly, and businesses can no longer afford to treat compliance as an annual box-checking exercise,” Sridhar said. “Lewis and Claudio saw that shift early and built an agentic platform that makes compliance and security continuous…” Nathan Owen, a general partner at Grand Ventures, also joined the round’s public commentary as a lead-investor voice.
Hiring Across Miami and New York
Comp AI said it is hiring across product, engineering, operations, sales, customer success and marketing in its Miami-area headquarters and New York office. For a company barely past its first birthday, the combination of 1,000-plus customers, 15x ARR growth and a $34 million Series A puts it among the more visible AI security raises tied to South Florida in 2026.
Why It Matters for Miami
South Florida’s startup narrative has often centered on fintech, consumer apps and creator tools. Comp AI is a different data point: an AI-native compliance and cybersecurity company scaling out of Aventura with a Coconut Grove lead investor and a product that sells into regulated industries nationwide. Healthcare groups, financial firms, universities and software companies in Miami already buy compliance tooling; a local vendor growing at that pace keeps more of that spend — and more of the engineering headcount — in the metro.
The business angle for Miami operators is straightforward. If agentic systems can compress onboarding, evidence collection and control monitoring from quarters into days, startups and mid-market firms facing SOC 2, HIPAA or vendor-security questionnaires get a cheaper path to close enterprise deals. The expansion into real-time monitoring and pen testing is where Comp AI will have to prove it is more than a faster checklist.
With $37.5 million raised to date and hiring open on both coasts, the company now has runway to turn a compliance wedge into a continuous security platform. For Miami’s tech ecosystem, the Sept. 17 raise is another signal that enterprise AI infrastructure — not only consumer flash — can raise serious capital with a South Florida dateline.
